Science-based, ecological garden consulting

Edaphic Garden Consulting helps homeowners in Connecticut transform lawns and tired beds into beautiful, low-maintenance gardens using native plants and a soil-first, science-based approach.

What I do

I work with homeowners who know they want “something better than lawn and mulch” but don’t know where to start. I walk the site with you, look at light, soil, drainage, and existing plants, talk through your goals and maintenance comfort level, and then give you practical, phased recommendations you can actually follow.

Native plants tailored to your site and goals

Clear, phased plans instead of overwhelming lists

Gardens that support pollinators and wildlife

A balance of “wild” ecology and tidy, intentional design

Who I am

I'm Todd Testerman, owner of Edaphic Garden Consulting. I think about gardens as living systems — soil, plants, water, microbes, insects, and people all working together. With a PhD in microbiology from UConn and accreditation as an Organic Land Care Professional, I bring a science-first approach to every project. My goal is to make gardening approachable and fun, so you feel confident about what to plant, where to put it, and how to care for it.
